Lulu Kennedy – also known as ‘the godmother of fashion’ – came out with a new collection today with M&S.
Just in case you don’t know who Lulu Kennedy is, here is a bit of background: in 1996 she worked for the owners of the Old Truman Brewery on Brick Lane in East London. Together in 2000, they launched a pioneering, non-profit Fashion East which was made to find young designers and letting them to show at London Fashion week. She then created MAN in partnership with Topman in 2005 and in 2010 she created her own clothing brand ‘Lulu & Co’.
She’s launched many of London’s leading fashion names (Jonathan Saunders, House of Holland, Roksanda Ilincic etc). So it’s no wonder she’s so highly regarded in the world of fashion!
On the M&S collection, Kennedy herself said: ‘It was amazing being part of M&S’s Leading Ladies campaign shot by Annie Leibovitz, and as a result of doing that, I was invited to design a capsule collection for Indigo. It’s inspired by my travels to Tulum in Mexico, so it feels very summery, very light – lots of print and colour. I think there’s a bohemian side to me: I guess I’m just a Seventies girl at heart.’
Here are some of the clothes from the 20 piece collection:
